WELCOME TO CHARACTER CREATION - PART 4 - Elves and Mystical Creatures


This section is the one that covers the races that will apply to most of you looking to create characters here at this time. Here we will outline Elves and Mystical creatures. Mystical creatures is a catch all we use here to describe many different types of creatures and beings that do not fit into the normal race descriptions.

ELVES:

Elves tend to be shorter and slimmer than the average human and they have finely chisled features making them appear almost delicate. they tend to have very musical and melodic voices. A typical elf can live to be over 1,200 years old. As a race they have over time always been very strong in many ways. From other races point of view Elves seem very aloof and the ways of elves are extremly hard for other races to truly understand. Fact is that elves really are not as frivilous as many percieve them. They have a fond appreciation of all things natural and see the beauty in those things, they prefer to spend their time dancing and singing and playimng and frolicking when it is possible to do so. Unfortunatley neccesities of survival have caused the elven races as a whole to have much less time for such things. Almost all elves enjoy giving life by growing things and also have a true love for gazing at open skies. On the other hand they tend to not like ships or mines very much. Their personalites often show tendencies of arrogance and make them come across as haughty at times but they do regard the ones they number as friends as equals. Know that to be named an elf friend is not done easily or a decison they make lightly but also know this, once and elf names a friend or an enemy that will never be forgotten. They try very hard to keep a distance from all things human which is becoming increasingly harder and harder for them as the human population spreads like a plague as they see it, and they dont hold much respect for dwarves either. They also seem to harbor a hatred for any creature that threatens natures balance. They have a very clever sense of humor that seems to transcend into elven music and poetry as well. Elves can be very brave but are not prone to making foolish decisions, especially in battle. Elves enjoy many alcoholic beverages but it is rare to see one drunk. They also eat very sparingly. It is a rare elf indeed that holds an interest in money or gain although they do exist.
There are 5 main branches of Elves and those are Aquatic, High(gold), Gray(moon), Wood, and Dark(drow). There are extreme cultural differences between the different types of elves. Obviously aquatic elves reside in the sea. High elves tend to be the most common in numbers but also are not very fond of the other types of elves. They seem to think they are the cream of the crop, genetic wise as far as elves go. Grays are considered to be very serious minded and exacting and have held many postions of leadership to the elves as a whole throughout history. Wood elves are considered to be the wild elves. They have tendencies toward being savage and highly tempermental. Now as far as the rest of the elven races think and all agree upon at this time is that the dark ones, the drow, are a corrupt form of elf and evil beyond redemption. The drow are no longer even considered part of the elven race, by other elves at least. Although there are exceptions to every stereotype.
